Charter Bus Hire: Questions and Answers

Plain answers on hiring a charter vehicle and how our referral works.

The referral

What does Transit Charters Australia do?

We pass your request for a charter bus, coach, minibus or shuttle to one local charter operator, with your agreement. The operator then contacts you. We do not run vehicles or take bookings.

Does it cost anything?

No. Sending a request costs nothing. Operators set their own charges, which they explain when they quote.

How quickly will I hear back?

We aim to pass your request to a local charter operator within one business day. If nobody has been in touch, email hello@transitaustralia.com.au.

My trip is this week. Can you help?

Choose This week or Today or tomorrow on the form and we pass the request on first. Short notice depends on what operators have free, so we cannot promise a vehicle.

Before you book

How do I know an operator is accredited?

Each state and territory runs its own scheme for bus operators and drivers. Ask the operator how it is accredited where you are travelling and check with that state's transport regulator. Our city pages link to a government source for each state's rules.

Will every seat have a seatbelt?

Not every vehicle has them. Ask the operator, and ask about seats for young children if any are travelling.

Can I get a wheelchair accessible vehicle?

Say so in the accessibility box, with how many wheelchair users are travelling. The operator can tell you what it has.

What should the quote include?

Each run, the waiting time, any extra stops, tolls and parking, the deposit and the cancellation terms, in writing.
